100 Days of HYPG Giving

For the last 100 Days of 2016, we asked 100 different Prince George residents (we call them our HYPG Heroes) what their favourite local charity was! In turn, Fred Nelson and his team at PG Motors donated $100 to the charity of their choice! In total, $10,000 was distributed to a large collection of charities! We’ll be announcing all the charities that received money this January of 2017.

Day #100 – Doug Kuenzl

Please send your thoughts, love and prayers to today’s HYPG Hero for Day #100 of the 100 Days of Giving initiative.

Doug Kuenzl – a young man who loved his community, friends and wife – passed away earlier this week. On behalf of Doug and his wife Miranda,PG Motors would like to donate $100 to the Prince George Hospice Society. Thank you, Doug, for positively influencing so many lives.

Also, a special thank you to Todd Doherty, MP. When Todd found out Doug was fighting a lengthy battle with cancer and enrolled into the Hospice House, he immediately took time out of his busy schedule to contact Trevor Linden and theVancouver Canucks organization. Doug was a HUGE hockey fan, which is why he was more than estactic when the Canucks sent him a brand new jersey during his stay at Hospice. In addition, members of the community, along with the Prince George Cougars Hockey Club and Spruce Kings, made sure to stop by with some hockey memorabilia for Doug to enjoy.

We’ll miss you, Doug.

As of today, the good people at PG Motors have donated $10,000 to the various charity choices of 100 local residents over the past 100 days (since September 23, 2016). They did the exact same thing last year too, bringing the total up to $20,000. We live in a remarkably special community. Thank you, PG Motors! #HYPG

Today is International Child’s Day and what better HYPG heroes to highlight that Lexi and Peter Shymanski! Determined to give back, Lexi has helped raise thousands of dollars for our local hospital. This year, she has chosen the Child Development Center (CDC), where her baby brother Peter goes for ongoing physical therapy since his lifesaving brain surgery at 10 weeks old….

The Shymanski family is personally matching today’s HYPG HERO $100 donation from PG Motors, and wants to encourage other young families to do the same!

But wait, there’s more! These community difference-makers are looking for FIFTY HYPG “Little Heroes“. Anyone who has been helped by the CDC over the past 50 years (or just feels passionate about helping this worthy charity!) to each raise $100.
